Reasons For High Gas Consumption of CNG Fuel
1. Original vehicle condition
A. The original car has poor technical performance.
B. The car has poor sliding performance, unable to brake, improper adjustment of various mechanical parts and transmission systems, high resistance, and low tire pressure.
C. Clutch slippage
2. Engine
A. The maximum power and torque of the engine shall not be less than 90% of the engine calibration value
B. The pressure of each cylinder should not be less than 0.8Mpa, and the pressure difference between each cylinder should not exceed 5% of the average cylinder pressure.
C. The vacuum degree of the intake pipe should be within the standard range when the engine is idling
D. The valve clearance is too small or too large
E. The air filter is clogged with a lot of dust, causing the mixture to become too rich
F. Engine connection parts such as intake and exhaust manifolds, cylinder gaskets, vacuum pipes, carburetors, or throttle seats are leaking.
G. The carburetor is too dirty and clogged, and the throttle valve is stuck.
H. The engine valve timing is incorrect
I. When using gasoline, the engine speed should be stable in all operating conditions, there should be no sudden explosion during sudden acceleration or deceleration, the throttle valve should not backfire, and the oil pressure should be stable.
3. Engine ignition system
A. The no-load voltage of the battery is greater than 12.4V, and the starting voltage is greater than 8.5V.
B. The peak voltage of the generator during normal operation reaches 14V, and the starter motor is normal.
C. The distributor or electronic igniter has good performance
D. The spark plug has good performance, no erosion, and correct gap adjustment. The spark plug clearance is 0.6-0.7mm, and its movement and clearance should be checked regularly every month.
E. There is no damage or leakage in the high-voltage line, strong high-voltage sparks, and blue sparks.
F. Poor grounding of the line
4. Usage operation
A. If the driving operation is not proficient and the engine is running at high speed, it should be driven at a medium speed. Gas powered cars should shift gears in advance.
B. The engine water temperature has not been maintained at normal operating temperature, resulting in long-term low-temperature driving.
C. The gas cylinder and main air valve are not fully opened, resulting in a decrease in power and an increase in gas consumption.
5. Poor road conditions, narrow roads, road repairs, traffic jams, and frequent parking result in slow driving speeds, short sliding distances, frequent engine braking and starting, and increased fuel consumption.
5. Gas Device
A. Check if the output pressure of the pressure reducer meets the standard
B. Frost formation on the pressure reducer, check if the two circulating water pipes and the engine water temperature are the same, if the water circulation is blocked, and if the pressure reducer temperature is low, causing the mixture to be too rich.
C. The high-pressure solenoid valve is not tightly closed and leaks air
D. Check whether the mixture is too rich, and the sealing of the connection between the mixer and the carburetor or throttle valve.
E. Check for any air leaks in pipelines, high-pressure gauges, gas filling valves, cylinder joints, etc.
6. Reasons and methods for insufficient power
A. Oil and gas mixed combustion, low engine compression ratio, insufficient cylinder pressure, large pressure deviation among cylinders, and insufficient vacuum degree in the engine intake manifold.
B. Recheck whether the valve clearance is too small, and the clearance should reach the upper limit of the original vehicle standard.
C. Check the ignition system: Low battery voltage leads to insufficient ignition energy and poor contact of the grounding wire. Cylinder line leakage aging, excessive spark plug clearance or erosion.
D. Installing a high-energy igniter can solve problems such as high-speed ignition failure, insufficient ignition energy, insufficient combustion, and decreased power.
E. The adjustment of the power valve opening is too small or blocked, resulting in insufficient flow at high speeds, which is due to a lean mixture.
F. Impurities or foreign objects in the pipeline obstruct the gas flow
7. Unstable idle speed
A. Is there any air leakage in the intake passage
B. The ignition advance angle is incorrect
C. The intake manifold check valve is not installed, resulting in a large intake air volume and a lean mixture during idle.
D. The engine valve clearance is incorrect, and the air filter is too dirty and clogged.
E. The difference in cylinder pressure is too large
F. Valve timing error
G. The ignition system has malfunctioned
H. Lack of cylinder
I. Improper adjustment of air-fuel ratio
J. Oil and gas co firing
8. The engine cannot start or has difficulty starting when using CNG fuel
A. The low-pressure output pressure of the pressure reducer is too low
B. The mixture is too rich, the mixer is installed and adjusted improperly, and there is air leakage at the mixer interface.
C. Poor contact and grounding of the induction signal line
D. Starting voltage too low
F. The water temperature is too low
G. Excessive pressure causes the solenoid valve to jam
9. It is difficult to start the gas station after refueling
A. Pressure reducer malfunction: Low pressure, normal use, but after refueling, the pressure rises. The instantaneous high pressure of the pressure reducer results in high output pressure and rich mixture, making it difficult to start. Generally, this probability is relatively low.
B. High voltage solenoid valve malfunction: Low battery voltage leads to insufficient starting voltage of the coil, insufficient suction force generated by the small magnetic field of the coil, and inability to overcome resistance when the air pressure is high. The gap between the iron core and the solid bolt of the valve body is large, resulting in high back pressure and inability to suck up the iron core, or a decrease in magnetic field after prolonged use of the iron core.
C. The sealing gasket of the main air valve core has fallen off and blocked the airway
D. Impurities block the filter or mesh after refueling, causing insufficient gas supply.
E. Improper adjustment of mixer
10. The conversion switch sounds
A. Poor grounding of the circuit leads to a decrease in voltage or wear and tear of the circuit
B. Insufficient positive voltage, incorrect connection or short circuit, etc
11. Precautions for using pressure reducers in winter
A. After the engine is cold started, it runs smoothly from idle to high idle to warm up. When the engine water temperature rises above 40-60 ¡æ, it can start slowly and keep the engine water temperature at 80-90 ¡æ.
B. Cannot self operate the safety valve to prevent its failure. Regular inspections.
C. The quality of natural gas should meet the standards. If dehydration does not meet the standards, it may cause ice blockage and damage to the valve core.
D. Antifreeze should be used for engine cooling water. If ordinary circulating water is used, the water in the pressure reducer should be drained before parking at night to prevent freezing.
E. If there is ice blockage in the pressure reducer, it indicates that the dehydration of natural gas is insufficient or the water circulation of the pressure reducer is poor. You can check whether the water circulation is blocked.
F. When installing the pressure regulator's circulating water pipeline, the water inlet of the pressure regulator's circulating water should be located on the water tank or engine's small circulating water pipeline. This can reduce the blockage of the pressure regulator's water pipeline by scale in the cylinder body, accelerate the heating of the pressure regulator, prevent frosting or ice blockage of the pressure regulator, and avoid affecting normal use.
