How to use and maintain CNG dual fuel vehicles correctly?

For CNG dual fuel vehicles, there are 7 aspects that need special attention in terms of driving, usage, and maintenance compared to regular gasoline vehicles.

1. Gas can only be added after the first maintenance

A dual fuel vehicle cannot be driven with gas immediately after purchase, but needs to be refueled before driving until the first maintenance is completed. This is mainly because, compared to gasoline, natural gas has a drier composition, which can to some extent damage the running in between gears during the running in period.

2. It is best to use a gasoline engine for ignition

There are many aspects to pay attention to when driving a dual fuel vehicle, such as being sure to ignite it with gasoline. Dual fuel vehicles have a control switch located at the lower left corner of the steering wheel, with one end marked with the gasoline symbol and the other end marked with the letter G representing natural gas. After inserting the key, first ensure that the control switch is located at the gasoline mark. Although dual fuel vehicles can be ignited with both fuels, using gas ignition can cause certain damage to the vehicle's lubrication and other systems, so it is best to use a gasoline engine for ignition.

3. Not less than 1/4 tank of gasoline

Although dual fuel vehicles will mainly use natural gas in the future, they will only consume natural gas during the driving process because gasoline is needed as fuel for starting the vehicle. So the gasoline tank of a dual fuel vehicle also needs to ensure a certain amount of fuel. Generally, the gasoline in the fuel tank should be ensured to be no less than 1/4. For example, the gasoline tank of the Elysee is 51L, so the fuel volume should be guaranteed to be around 15L on weekdays.

4. Long time no need to turn off gas cylinders

If a dual fuel vehicle is not used for a long time, it is best to turn off the main switch of the gas cylinder, which will be safer. It is best to control this time within about 3 days. If it exceeds 3 days, it is best to turn off the main switch of the gas cylinder. If the car is not used for a long time and the main switch is not turned off, there is a possibility of gas leakage that is difficult to detect. Once an open flame appears, the consequences are unimaginable.

5. After the water temperature reaches 60 degrees, it can be switched to natural gas

Try to start with gasoline and switch to natural gas when the water temperature reaches 60 degrees Celsius; During fuel conversion in cold weather, the engine may experience a decrease in speed or stalling. To avoid engine stalling during fuel conversion, the conversion should be carried out at higher engine temperature conditions, and should not be carried out in crowded traffic, uphill and downhill, turning, or areas with poor visibility.

6. Personnel on board must get off the vehicle when refueling

The dual fuel vehicle is filled with gas in the engine compartment, and the gas gun is injected into the filling port for refueling. Special attention should be paid when refueling. It is best for all passengers to get off the vehicle, one is to reduce the vehicle's load and pressure, and the other is for safety. Because during refueling, the air gun may insert and spray out unstably, making it easy to directly hit the front windshield, endangering the safety of passengers in the vehicle.

7. Maintenance is basically the same as gasoline cars

Dual fuel vehicles are not significantly different from regular gasoline vehicles in terms of maintenance, as they are maintained under the same conditions for engine oil and filters. However, the spark plugs of dual fuel vehicles are different from regular gasoline vehicles, so if replaced, it is necessary to purchase and replace dedicated spark plugs for dual fuel vehicles.
